I did not come from a family that was into seasonal decor. We had the usual nativity scenes, stockings, and school art projects, but we kept it simple. The tree took center stage. There was no switching out pillows or towels. No snowman or santa clause doo-dads. It was simple and I loved it.
Now that I'm living on my own (plus B of course), I realized that I need a little something to get myself into the holiday spirit. So this past weekend B and I made an excursion to Target to pick out a tree. Never having had a fake tree, I wasn't sure what to expect. They all seemed a little sad- like they were trying too hard to be real. But we took a little one home with us, bought some sparkly ornaments and a sparkly tree topper, and now it doesn't seem so sad.
In my imaginary world, where I am super crafty and have a large house to decorate, I would love to have several trees. A fake (possibly pink) one, a real (traditional) one, and a different (quirky) one.
I'm participating in Gussy's fantastic Inspiration Workshop again, and the theme this week is Holiday Decor. Be sure to head over and check out all the inspired posts! And if you're stopping by from Gussy (hey ya'll!) feel free to stick around and share your favorite holiday decor ideas in the comments.
