A couple of months ago, my grandpa arrived back from a trip to South Africa bearing gifts. My brother got some type of maracas. My parents got some type of decorative bowl. I expected my gift to be some type of carved animal. However, I received some type salad tongs that were not only decorative but functional (if you don't mind hand-washing things. Which I sometimes do). They were just my style and just right for my self-proclaimed salad obsession.
Weeks later, I saw these in an anthropologie catalog. Adorably referred to as Dot & Zig Serving Spoons, they appeared to be nearly identical. Was my grandpa on the cusp of twee home stylings? Or was anthropologie on catching on to tastes of the retired Floridian grandparent set?
We may never know.
