Today, just in time for Valentine's Day, it was warm. The sun came out. After weeks of below-zero temperatures, the thermometer finally reached above freezing - 42 degrees!
The moment I walked outside this morning I could smell it. That damp, dirty smell of melting snow and dripping icicles. People were walking around without their puffy down coats and snow boots. You could breathe without seeing a cloud of frozen breath in front of your eyes. It was lovely.
Tonight, B and I are celebrating Valentine's Day. We will walk down the block to a little Italian restaurant and eat pasta and drink wine. Tomorrow, I will wake up and hope that the thaw continues - I'm getting tired of scraping my car.
